Gore Rides On again...

So I am usually a Nokon guy, have been for a few years now. Nokons have worked well for me, I have had no complaints, and I have sold them to quite a number of customers over the last couple of years. A few weeks ago the Gore rep came by the shop, and left these for me to try, the fully lined frictionless Gore Ride On shift cable system. Much like the cables/housing that are coming on SRAM Red, but fully sealed from the shifter to derailleur. Having built up a few Red bikes I have noticed how smooth the new Gore cables are, and I have been assured that the reincarnated Gore cables are reformulated and there will be no flaking, rubbing, or wearing off of the coating. So I am going to try something new this year. The new mountain bike will be getting the Gore Ride On. Look for detailed installation info coming soon and short and long term reports as I soon as I can actually ride outside.

enjoy the ride.

Coming soon..

A few years ago it was the "Year of the Faux-Hawk" at Interbike, everywhere you looked there was a shop guy sporting the euro envasion "Fauxhawk". This time around Pozzato is kicking off the "Eur-row". start growing your hair out now!

Seriously!!

Is it really March 21?! I rode outside on dry roads two days ago and all the snow had finally melted. Then...AARRRGH! I am so ready for warm weather! I would take 40 and raining over this. All of you lucky souls out there not snowed in, consider me jealous.

Riding Outdoors...

...is good for the soul! Yesterday was the first day in waaay to long that I was able to ride outside. there is nothing like a sunny day on the bike to recharge your system. No heart rate monitor, cycling computer or plan other than getting time outside. Non married friends often ask my wife how she does it, put up with all the riding/racing, and her answer is always the same "He is much happier when he gets to ride!" but I think its more than just happiness, riding melts away all the worries of life and you come back refreshed and energized.

Enjoy the ride.

It begins...

So this guy made me do it. Okay not really (I don't even know him), but he did in a round about way inspire the idea and then he posts this new rad kit, so I felt obligated. When I read his posts I am inspired by his passion not only for cycling, but his family as well, and that is the idea behind My Wife Inc.

What started as a joke has morphed into something more. It goes a little something like this...

Customer: Oh you race cyclocross?

Me: Yep, it is a lot of fun you should give it a try!

Customer: Well are you sponsored?

Me: Yeah, I am.

Customer: Wow! Really be who?

Me: My wife.

Customer: Huh?

Me: Well as you can see I work in a bike shop.

Customer: And...

Me: Obviously you haven't worked in the cycling industry.

So I decided that I wanted to somehow give back to my wife for everything she gives to me, and since she always joked that she was my sponsor. I thought she should get the credit when I was riding/racing. After all every minute we spend away from our families is time that has been donated to us by them, so why not show some love out on the course! So as the joke evolved my friend Paul came up with My Wife Inc as the fictitious company , run by our wives, that would be our sponsor. Well enough of my cohorts thought is was a good idea that now we are all legit with a kit design and everything.

So next time you get the okay to spend a beautiful Saturday afternoon riding, make sure you remember how lucky you are to have her!
